In short

Both apps put a dictation keyboard on your iPhone. The biggest difference is not the keyboard but where else you can use the product. According to the vendor’s help center, Wispr Flow is available for Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android. SpeechDone is for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and it is not in the App Store yet, only on the waitlist.

Everything we say about Wispr Flow comes from the vendor’s public help center, as of Oct 16, 2026. Prices appear in the currency Wispr gives there. About SpeechDone we only say what we can back up ourselves.

What Wispr Flow does well

Wispr Flow is the broader choice if you work across systems. If you dictate at a Windows PC in the morning and on an Android phone on the road, you get the same app in both places, and SpeechDone cannot do that. According to the help center, Wispr Flow supports over 100 languages and detects the language for each dictation.

On data, the help center says “Improve the model for everyone” is on by default for Free and Pro, the choice is shown during onboarding, and you can turn it off. Even with it off, processing still happens in the cloud. Wispr’s third-party AI providers may not use the data to train their models, according to the help center.

What SpeechDone does differently

SpeechDone is built for iPhone, iPad, and Mac: a keyboard in every app on iPhone and iPad, hold fn and speak on the Mac (macOS 15 or later), plus a widget, a Live Activity, the share menu, and a history in your iCloud. You see the text while you speak, and when you stop, the finished text is in the field. Two speech recognizers check each other: Deepgram writes live, Mistral recognizes the recording again in sections, and that text is what gets inserted.

You also get a dictionary for names and technical terms, text snippets on all your devices (with sign-in), and in the keyboard you can translate, ask questions, and rewrite by voice (Pro). Past the weekly limit, SpeechDone keeps writing, just without cleanup.

For context: SpeechDone uses third-party services too. Deepgram (USA, processing on EU servers) and Mistral AI (Paris) receive the recording for recognition. Neither uses your recordings for training: we opt out with Deepgram on every request, and with Mistral it is switched off in our account.
