For doctors
The dictation app for doctors on iPhone
You speak a note, a few findings or an email, and after you stop the cleaned-up text is in the field right away. On iPhone, iPad and Mac. Server in Germany, recognition only on EU servers, DPA in text form.
Please pencil in Mrs. Meier for uh, Wednesday, no, Thursday and prepare her file
ToPractice team
SubjectMrs. Meier, Thursday
Please pencil in Mrs. Meier for Thursday and prepare her file.
Three situations from the working day
A note after the house call
You dictate in the car what you saw and discussed. You paste the text where it belongs, or send it to yourself. Your original stays in your history next to the cleaned-up version, in case you want to check later what exactly you said.
Findings in bullet points between two patients
Two minutes free, one thought about a finding. You speak it as bullet points into the keyboard instead of trying to remember it. You check numbers, names and medication yourself before you send.
An email to your practice
“Please pencil in Mrs. Meier for Thursday and prepare her file.” You say it in the hallway, and the email to your team is ready before you reach the next room. If someone writes in German, you translate in the keyboard.
What is left over after the appointment
The house call is over, you are sitting in the car, and everything is still in your head: the findings, the medication, what the daughter asked. Two hours later half of it has faded, and in the evening you sit at your desk and type it up.
Your iPhone can do it sooner. You speak the note while it is fresh, detours and a “no, wait” included. SpeechDone cleans up as you pause, and after you stop the text is there, with punctuation and without the ums.
What SpeechDone does for that
The text is there while you speak
You see the text as you speak. After you stop, the finished text is in the field right away (median 0 ms after the stop, measured on October 13, 2026).
Two recognizers check each other
Deepgram transcribes live, Mistral (Voxtral) recognizes the recording section by section once more, and that text is inserted. If Mistral does not answer in time, the text comes from Deepgram.
In every app, on iPhone, iPad and Mac
On iPhone and iPad the SpeechDone dictation keyboard works in every app. There is also a widget, a Live Activity and the Share menu. On the Mac you hold the fn key and speak, and the text lands where your cursor is (macOS 15 or later). Your history lives in your iCloud.
Dictionary for technical terms and text snippets
You add names and technical terms, such as drugs or diagnoses, to the dictionary once, and SpeechDone pays attention to the spelling. Text snippets for sentences you use often sit next to it. Both are the same on all your devices (with sign-in).
Rewrite, translate, ask
In the keyboard you translate text, ask questions and rewrite selected text by voice (Pro).
Your dictation never stops at the limit
Above the weekly limit SpeechDone keeps writing, just without the cleanup. The original stays in your history next to the cleaned-up version.
What SpeechDone is not
SpeechDone is a dictation app, not practice software. It does not keep patient records and does not replace your practice management system. The text lands where your cursor is, and you decide what to keep.
Privacy: what happens to your dictation
You are bound by professional secrecy, and patient data is especially sensitive. So here is where your dictation goes, without gloss.
Our server runs at Hetzner in Germany. Speech recognition runs only on EU servers: Deepgram (Deepgram, Inc., USA, processing on EU servers) transcribes live, and Mistral AI (Paris) recognizes the recording once more, section by section. Both hear the same recording, and one of the two providers is a US company. Neither uses your recordings for training: we opt out with Deepgram on every request, and with Mistral it is switched off in our account.
Your recording is not stored on our server. It is only processed in memory during recognition. We keep the recognized result in a cache for up to 24 hours so that an interrupted connection is not processed twice, and delete it afterwards. By default the app keeps your history in your own iCloud.
Recognition and text processing always run in the EU. There is no switch to servers in the US, and SpeechDone does not fall back there when something is down.
You conclude the data processing agreement (DPA) under Art. 28 GDPR with us in text form: view the DPA. There is also a confidentiality undertaking under Section 203 of the German Criminal Code (StGB). Doctors are bound by professional secrecy; the undertaking covers us as a person assisting in your work (Section 203 (4) StGB). Every service provider that processes data is listed on the subprocessor page.
Whether that is enough for your practice is your decision. This is not legal advice: check it with your medical association or your data protection officer. More on the technical side in the guide to dictation apps and GDPR.
